Steve M. Neil Food Stuff Marketplace Input

By Ayana Peacemaker

While you may not have heard of Diamond Foods, it's actually one of the biggest snack producers on the market today. They make several different products that you've probably heard of, and definitely eaten. The way that they've grown since their founding in 1912 is nothing short of incredible. People like Steve M. Neil have been responsible for that progression.

From rather humble beginnings as back as far as 1912, originally this was just a ploy to sell walnuts. A few walnut farmers had gotten together, to form a bigger conglomerate, that would make distributing the nuts easier, and more cost effective.

One of the most interesting things about this company, is that they were actually the first nut manufacturer to advertise. Through their television ads, they really helped to grow the popularity of the brand.

That led to the company starting to sell their nuts abroad by the 1930s. Meaning they had become extremely popular at this point. That's when the profits really started to rise, and it was time to branch out.

Of course, it wasn't until 70 years later that the brands we really know today were born. In 2004 they created Emerald Nuts. The brand that many nut snackers know of today.

Because other companies had become more well known in the nut department, it was necessary for Diamond to branch out. Through Emerald Nuts they were able to tap into the market Fisher and Planters had found.

After this, Pop Secret was purchased, and then Kettle Chips. This way InsideView was able to branch out, and actually target other types of snack foods besides just nuts. That gave them a much larger share on the market.

These days, you've definitely heard of what this company has to offer. You've definitely heard about their snacks, and more than likely indulged yourself once or twice. They are ever growing as well, even trying to acquire other companies such as Pringles.
